This article covers how to backup information from a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet. For information on how to restore backed up data to a BlackBerry PlayBook
Windows
- In the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Device > Back up.
- Do one of the following:
- To back up all the BlackBerry PlayBook data, click Full.
- To back up all the BlackBerry PlayBook data except for Media, click Quick.
- To selectively choose which database of BlackBerry PlayBook data to back up, clickCustom. Select the check box next to the data requiring a back up.
- Do any of the following:
- To change the default name for the backup file, in the File name field, type a new name.
- To encrypt the back up the file, select the Encrypt backup file check box. Type a password.
- To save the settings so that there is no prompt to set these options again when backing the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, select Don't ask for these settings againcheck box.
- Click Back up.
Mac
- In the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Back Up in the upper right corner.
- Do one of the following:
- To back up all the BlackBerry PlayBook data, click All Data.
- To selectively choose which database of BlackBerry PlayBook data to back up, clickSelected Data. Select the check box next to the data requiring a back up.
- Do any of the following:
- To change the default name for the backup file, in the File name field, type a new name.
- To encrypt the back up the file, select the Encrypt backup file check box.
- Click Back Up.
- If the option to Encrypt the back up is selected, a password will be required. After typing the password click Encrypt.
Note: Application data database when backed up or restored will contain all downloaded BlackBerry PlayBook tablet applications. If this database is not backed up the applications downloaded to the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet can still be retrieved from BlackBerry AppWorld.
